Jay Osgerby / Barber & Osgerby
Edward Barber, OBE and Jay Osgerby, OBE, Internationally acclaimed designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby founded their London-based studio in 1996 after graduating from London's Royal College of Art. Their multidisciplinary practice challenges the boundaries of industrial design, architecture and art. Their diverse body of work includes collections for Knoll, Vitra, B&B Italia, Cappellini, Venini and Flos; limited edition works; public commissions including the 2012 Olympic Torch and a new L2 coin designed for the Royal Mint. Both are Royal Designers for Industry (RDI) and Honorary Doctors of Arts. Their work is held in permanent museum collections around the world including the Victoria and Albert Museum and Design Museum in London, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Art Institute of Chicago. In 2001, Barber and Osgerby established architecture and interior design practice, Universal Design Studio. In 2012, they founded MAP, a company that specialises in research and strategy-led industrial design. All three studios work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary approach and share a thoughtful, materials-driven design process and passion for detail.
